Pediatric Therapy

2011 West Fourth St.
Ontario, Ohio
419-520-2386

Pediatric Therapy Services are a cooperative effort between our therapists, the child, the parents and the physicians. The team of professionals available to evaluate and treat your child includes occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech/language pathologists.

Because children develop at varying rates, it is important they show continuous growth in language and motor skill development. Identifying and treating problems early will help the child avoid developmental delays. An evaluation by a professional will help you and your family physician determine if therapy can help your child.

Children with the following diagnoses may need therapy:

  • juvenile arthritis
  • attention deficit disorders
  • autism/pervasive developmental disorder
  • cerebral palsy
  • developmental delays
  • Down syndrome
  • feeding and swallowing disorders
  • hand injury
  • head or spinal cord injury
  • hearing impairment
  • learning disabilities
  • mental retardation
  • orthopedic injury
  • sensory integration dysfunction
  • spina bifida
  • stuttering
  • verbal or motor apraxia

Pediatric therapists will help design a treatment program to meet each child's specific needs, as well as educate parents and encourage them to participate in the child's therapy. Individual home programs will be given, as appropriate, to foster continuous progress while the child is away from the health care setting.

Therapists will also coordinate therapy with school-based services during the school year and continue treatment during summer vacation. Throughout the child's therapy, updates will be provided to the referring physician and other professionals, as needed.
