Health System, Shelby Hospital, is a non-profit, general acute care
hospital that began serving the Shelby Community in 1921. As a critical
access hospital, it also offers transitional care. Each year at Shelby
Hospital about 1,400 patients are admitted, 175 babies are born and
142,000 procedures are done for our 13,200 outpatient visits. The active
medical staff has about 50 members in such specialties as family medicine,
internal medicine, orthopedics, OB/GYN, general surgery, podiatry,
radiology, anesthesiology, pathology, emergency medicine, urology,
pediatrics and hospitalists.
Shelby Hospital offers:
- An emergency department staffed primarily with board certified or
board eligible emergency medicine physicians 24 hours every day. The
physicians and staff care for about 12,500 patients each year.
- Maternity services available in three newly remodeled birthing
suites and post-partum care provided on the remodeled fourth floor.
- A surgery department with board certified anesthesiologists
performing more than 1,400 procedures a year by specialists in general
surgery, orthopedics, GYN, podiatric and urology. Outpatient surgical
care is provided in a private setting on the hospital's second floor.
- Intensive care and telemetry units for step down care, enhancing our
medical/surgical floor in caring for our inpatients.
- Full diagnostic services, including laboratory, cardiopulmonary,
physical therapy, occupational and speech therapy and radiology
services including mammography, CT, nuclear medicine and MRI.
- Caring For You home care assistant
service.
